Drake Postpones European Tour

Toronto rapper Drake has cancelled his European tour due to his mother having surgery. Drake decided that it would be better to stay in Canada and support her. He issued the following statement regarding the cancellation:

Despite my best hopes, it is apparent that my mother will need surgery earlier than anticipated. In light of this news, I have made the difficult decision to cancel my European tour in order to support her during her recovery, just as she supported me through the years.
I cannot thank my European fans enough and look forward to performing abroad soon. I ask everyone to please respect my family's privacy during this time.

We have Drake's mom in our prayers and wish her a very speedy recovery.

Nicki Minaj Hits the Top of the Charts

The last time a female was on top of the Rap Charts was 2002. That female was Missy Elliott with her song "Work It." After that Lil Kim was assisted by 50 Cent and reached the top with "Magic Stick". But Missy was the last unassisted female.
Now, Nicki Minaj has put the females back on top with her single "Your Love." It is the rappers first No. 1! Huge congrats to her. It was a long time coming.

Lindsay Lohan Gets Punched in the Face

Lindsay Lohan was punched by a waitress at L.A. club Voyeur early Friday morning — her 24th birthday. “A waitress just hit me – punched me for no reason,” the actress Twittered around 1 a.m. PTA witness tells UsMagazine.com that Lohan — who sipped Red Bulls and hid her SCRAM bracelet with thigh-high boots — wasn’t exaggerating.
“The waitress has a history with Doug Reinhardt, and Lohan was hanging out with him. She was jealous, and out of nowhere, the waitress punched her in the face!” the insider tells Us. “Doug didn’t want any part of it and went to the other side of the booth. Lohan ran out.” The night didn’t get better from there. Lohan went to a party at the nearby Rockstar House — and ran into the waitress again! “Lohan showed up and cried because the waitress was there as well,” says another source. “Some birthday.”

I dunno whether to laugh or feel sorry for Lindsay...so instead I'll just *smh* *le sigh* *blank stare* *side eye*. That is all.

M.I.A. was spotted in NYC with her 18-month-old son Ikhyd, who is a total cutie! While the cutie pie is being raised in L.A. because M.I.A wanted a home big enough to house her friends and her son, they were in NYC for a visit. Too cute.

Chris Brown Used Eye Drops to Cry?

Everyone was buzzing how Chris Brown was set to make a comeback after his moving tribute to Michael Jackson at Sunday night’s BET Awards show, but Breezy detractors say his tears were fake! Here's how USMagazine.com is reporting it:

Before he took the stage to belt out “Man in the Mirror,” a backstage source tells Us one of Brown’s bodyguards gave the singer, 21, tear-inducing eye drops.
Brown’s rep denies it, telling Us that Brown simply “was moved by the opportunity to pay tribute to his idol.” But the witness says Brown definitely used drops. Says the source, “He rubbed it in and he started crying.”

Mannnnn okay, so they gave these eye-drops to him when exactly? When he was dancing the whole time? When no one else was back stage (Cause you know that happens ALL THE TIME...*sense the sarcasm here kids*)? Or maybe the bodyguard put the eye-drops in himself....riiiiiight. This all sounds way to suspect even for me.

Kim K's New Toy?

The latest Kim K dating rumours have her moving on from Reggie Bush, right into the arms of another NFL baller named Miles Austin, a Dallas Cowboy from New Jersey. Well, last night, the two were caught having their first public night out in NYC last night.
Miles Austin tried to hide their first public appearance but cameras caught the duo around the Meatpacking District after their date night with friends at STK. AND they headed back to her hotel together. Ow! Grown folk business...

Janelle Monae ft. BOB & Lupe: Tight Rope (Remix)

Lupe Fiasco and BOB join eclectic chick Janelle Monae for a remix of her song "Tight Rope." The video doesn't have any real concept, just three musicians rocking out, but it's aesthetically-pleasing anyway. I think Janelle Monae is cute as a button and I've wanted her in CreamWorld magazine for the longest. Now that her career is soaring hopefully she'll be doing some Canadian press. Tax Man Knocking at Swizzy's Door

Aside from having to supply Mashonda with back-payments for spousal support, now producer Swizz Beatz is having trouble paying his taxes. According to NY Post's Page Six, Swizzy was slapped with an IRS lien of $652,727 on June 3 for unpaid 2008 income tax. The music producer has had a string of liens filed against him and his former wife, Mashonda, in New York, Georgia and California. Their debts stand at about $2.2 million. A lawyer for Beatz said, “We have been discussing the issue with the government for years and are currently negotiating an amicable resolution of the dispute.”

Air Drake...I'm Serious

"Look Ma! My face is on a plane!" That's probably what Drake said when he called his moms and told her that Virgin airlines unveiled a new jet dubbed "Air Drake". The jet was unveiled to celebrate Virgin America's first international flight to Toronto.
Drake said at his red-carpet arrival from California via Virgin Airlines that he was happy to be in Toronto. Showing off his Canadian passport, he talked about how great the airline’s new service would be for the local economy.

Lloyd Says He Told Breezy to Cry, Then Backtracks..

As we reported the other day, Chris Brown broke down during his tribute to MJ at the BET Awards and Jermaine Jackson was compelled to forgive him and thought you should do the same. Well, after my post Lloyd spoke out and said that he told Chris Brown to cry. Well, the Internet was all a frenzy that Chris was obviously acting and taking his friend's advice. But Lloyd now says his words were taken out of context. Here's what he had to say:

"I consider Chris a friend. He's been through a lot in the past couple years. I never told him to go on stage and cry. We spoke recently, and I told him as a friend that people hadn't really seen him be vulnerable about his situation last year [with Rihanna]. I thought he was holding back and needed to let that emotion out. Him crying at the BET Awards was real, I could feel it.
“I think he cried about a number of things, about the fact that he thought people would hate him forever because of one mistake. Feeling that love on stage was probably overwhelming. Plus MJ being gone and him performing "Man in the Mirror", that song is powerful, especially for his situation. It pushed him over the edge.”

Jennifer Hudson Speaks on Family Murders

Earlier this week we told you that Jennifer Hudson would be speaking out about the murders of her mother, brother and nephew for the first time. As reported, Jennifer appeared on VH1's Behind the Music where she spoke about how she felt and what's gotten her through such a tough time. I can't imagine going through something like this in the public eye. Major kudos to Jennifer for being so so strong.

Zoe Saldana to Tie the Knot

It's safe to say that Zoe Saldana won't be sporting any blue makeup (a la Avatar) for the next important moment in her life. The “Losers” star is engaged to her long-time boyfriend Keith Britton, UsWeekly.com reports. A source tells the gossip Web site that the 32-year-old Jersey girl “is thrilled” about her upcoming nuptials. “They’ve been together forever,” the source told UsWeekly.com. “They’re a great couple.” The 32-year-old “Avatar” star has been quietly dating her boyfriend, the CEO of My Fashion Database, for ten years. “She doesn’t even introduce him as her fiancé,” another source told the gossip Web site. “She likes to keep her personal life to herself and wants people to focus on her as an actress.”

T.I. Reunites with Chelsea Lately

T.I. made his return to Chelsea Lately last night on the E! network. He plugged King Uncaged, his film "Takers" and clothing line. Of course, T.I. also discussed his time in prison and the care package Chelsea sent him. Chelsea also confronted him about Tiny since, you know, T.I. and Chelsea are an item. LoL. Hil-ar-ious!

Canadian rock darling Fefe Dobson makes her return to the music scene with her latest single "Ghost." The track will appear on Fefe's album, which is slated for an August release. Megan Fox & Brain Austin Green Get Married

Megan Fox is officially off the market after tying the knot with Brain Austin Green in Hawaii last week. An insider tells Star magazine: “They had a fairly large wedding, but there were clearly more security people than guests! They had so many security people that they had to call in local security because the hotel security alone wouldn’t do. It was very hush hush. Everyone was sworn to secrecy.”
The location of the wedding was the Four Seasons Hualalai at Historic Ka’upulehu on the big island of Hawaii. The hotel has many amenities like a golf course and a spa. The hotel is known for throwing big, A-list weddings. “The place is perfect for a Hollywood wedding,” says the source. “It’s very romantic and scenic. Megan and Brian had already been there for a few days. It seemed like a spur of the moment thing. I don’t think it had been planned long.”
The couple has been in no rush to leave. “Megan and Brian are still there at the hotel, relaxing,” says the source. “They’re now celebrating their honeymoon.”
Megan and Brian have been dating since 2004. They got engaged in 2007 then broke it off in Feb. 2009. Shortly thereafter they rekindled their relationship. Their reps confirmed that they got engaged again on June 1.

Jermaine Jacksons Wants You to Forgive Breezy

Just in case you haven't heard, Chris Brown performed at the BET Awards on the weekend and did a tribute to Michael Jackson. AND he cried...yup, like tears or as my West Indian people would say, "eye wata".
Well, Jermaine was so touched after Breezy broke down that he expressed his hope that Chris Brown’s critics to forgive him for beating up Rihanna: “He’s a human being like all others, we all make mistakes. What he did was wrong. I love Rihanna… I’m one of his biggest fans… We can’t condemn him because of what happened. We hope he learns from this,” Jackson told TV news show Extra. “He (Brown) deserves to perform because it’s healing for him. How can he learn from his mistakes if you don’t give him the chance? He needs that. I support him a thousand per cent; I’m not supporting what he did because it was wrong, but, at the same time, we have to give him a chance,” he added.
Jackson added that he was greatly moved by Brown’s tribute to MJ, “It was very emotional for me… It was just a spectacular moment.”
Well, there you have it. If Jermaine said it, I guess it's all right in the world again.

BET Award Red Carpet Arrivals & Winners

The BET Awards went down last night and sadly I was on a plane flying back from NYC (shouts to my NY family) so I missed it. Nevertheless, the red carpet's theme seemed to be "short and tight", not that that's a bad thing since the awards are a casual-chic affair. A few observations: 1) Ciara wore the hell out of that dress 2) Cassie's shoes look like they hurt 3) Does Nia Long EVER age? 4) Jada Pinkett-Smith looks like she forgot the bottom half of her outfit.

Jennifer Hudson to Speak on Family Murders

Jennifer Hudson is ready to talk about the brutal murders of her mother, brother and young nephew. The singer will be featured in a VH1 "Behind the Music" special on tonight and the network touts that “for the very first time, Jennifer talks candidly about overcoming [that] painful time in her life.”
The American Idol contestant turned Grammy and Oscar winning superstar’s went through a nightmare when, in October 2008, she learned that her mother, Darnell Donerson, and brother, Jason Hudson, were shot to death in the family’s Chicago home, where Jennifer herself grew up. Elevating it to another level, her 7-year-old nephew, Julian King, had been kidnapped by the gunman. Sadly, three days later Julian’s lifeless body was discovered discarded in a parked car. Jennifer herself had to go to the morgue to identify young boy’s body. Adding to the heartbreak, the man charged with the brutal murders was the estranged husband of Jennifer’s own sister Julia Hudson, who was Julian’s mother. He’s currently in prison.
This was such a sad story, it’s amazing how Jennifer bounced back so wonderfully with her new baby, new body, flourishing acting career, etc.
