John Dillinger robbed banks and captured the hearts of Americans at the same time - not the easiest thing to do. Now his story has been turned into a movie staring Johnny Depp as the Depression-era outlaw. "Public Enemies" follows the FBI's efforts to take down Dilligner and his gang. But while the adventures of Dillinger's gang — later including the sociopathic Baby Face Nelson (Stephen Graham) and Alvin Karpis (Giovanni Ribisi) — thrilled many, the FBI hit on the idea of exploiting the outlaw's capture as a way to elevate his Bureau of Investigation into the national police force that became the FBI. Dillinger was made America's first Public Enemy Number One. We'll keep an eye on the boxoffice numbers and see if Dillinger can capture the attention of the world again.
By the way, next year Johnny Depp will take on quite a different role when he becomes Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland"
