New Details on the Death of Steve McNair

Former NFL quarterback Steve McNair was found shot to death in an Ashville, Tenn downtown condominium. Close to him was the body of a 20-year-old woman who had a pistol laying close to her. Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron identified the woman as Sahel Kazemi, whom he called a "friend" of McNair's. She had a single gunshot wound to the head. Today, many are speculating that Kazemi was McNair's mistress. Apparently the two had met while Kazemi was working at Dave & Buster's and had been seeing each other for only a few months.

Aaron said McNair's wife, Mechelle, is distraught and the police do not believe she was involved.

"Nothing has been ruled out, but as far as actively looking for a suspect tonight, the answer would be no,'' he said.

The bodies were discovered yesterday afternoon by McNair's long-time friend Wayne Neeley, who said he rents the condo with McNair.

McNair, whose most noted drive was the final one of the 2000 Super Bowl, played 13 seasons before retiring in April 2008.

A four-time Pro Bowler, he led the Titans within a yard of forcing overtime in that Super Bowl, which they lost 23-16 to the St. Louis Rams. He also played for the Baltimore Ravens before retiring in April 2008. McNair began his career in 1995 with the Houston Oilers, who eventually became the Titans, and finished with 31,304 yards passing and 174 touchdowns. McNair played with pain for several years, and the injuries ultimately forced him to retire.
